Switching a listing to free shipping usually means folding the postage into the price, but doing it by feel tends to go wrong in one of two directions: the price goes up too little and every order pays you less, or it goes up too much and buyers walk. There is also a quieter problem. Once shipping is free, a buyer three zones away costs you more than a buyer next door, and the price has to survive both.

The calculator starts from what you net today on a typical order: item price and shipping charged, less percentage fees and your average postage and packaging. It then finds the single item price that produces exactly the same net with shipping set to zero, accounting for fees now applying to the whole amount. Whether your platform already charges fees on the shipping you collect changes the answer, so that is a switch you control. Finally it shows what the same price nets on your most expensive realistic destination, so you can see how much cushion you have.

What the math assumes

Percentage fees are applied to the full amount the buyer pays; the switch controls whether that already included the shipping you collected before the change.
Materials cost and fixed per-order fees such as a listing fee are left out because they are the same before and after the switch; every net figure here is after percentage fees, postage and packaging only, not net profit.
The default 9.5% fee is a placeholder combining a transaction fee and payment processing; replace it with your platform's current rates.
Postage and packaging figures are your own averages; the tool does not look up carrier rates or zones.
Demand is assumed unchanged; any conversion lift or drop from offering free shipping is outside the estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the new price equal my old price plus shipping when fees already apply to shipping?

Because the marketplace was already taking its percentage of the shipping amount, moving that amount into the item price changes nothing about what is deducted. The buyer pays the same total and you keep the same net; only the display changes.

What if the farthest-zone net comes out negative?

It means a far order at that price loses money before materials are even counted. Raise the price a little, limit shipping destinations, or accept the loss as the cost of a conversion lift, but decide that on purpose rather than by accident.

Does the tool account for buyers who order more than one item?

No. It models a single-item order. Multi-item orders usually cost less to ship per item, which works in your favor once shipping is folded into each price.
